The Répétiteur and Music Administrator is responsible to the Director of Artistic Administration and will collaborate on the development of programs for the company's new Opera Centre, including the expansion of artist training programs, education and outreach programs, community collaborations, recital and second stage performances. S/he will plan, execute and coordinate these artistic activities, and will act as an accompanist and coach for many of these programs.
Reporting directly to the Director of Artistic Administration within the general purview of the Artistic Director, s/he will act as a Répétiteur for opera rehearsals, in association with supplemental accompanists, and contribute to the musical preparation of the Pacific Opera chorus. S/he will provide music administration for the opera season, including the planning of local and national audition tours, and coordination of vocal and orchestral materials. S/he will act as an integral part of the artistic and administrative teams, responsible for the effective delivery of programs, and additional support as required.
The ideal candidate will have an advanced level of piano playing, experience in vocal accompaniment and playing for opera productions. Knowledge of operatic repertoire and a good understanding of voices are required. The candidate will possess strong collaborative, organizational and time-management skills, a sense of humour, and a desire to work with an innovative company in a dynamic team environment.
