When do single tickets go on sale?

For single ticket sale dates for each opera of the season, please see our main box office page.

Season subscriptions go on sale before single tickets and are the most economical way to ensure you have a ticket for each opera. Subscribers also have exchange privileges and may purchase subscriptions and additional single tickets before they go on sale to the general public. Find out more about subscriber benefits.

Where can I buy tickets?

Single tickets can be purchased in person at the following locations:

  1. The Royal Theatre Box Office
    805 Broughton Street, Victoria
    9:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Saturday

    Open two hours prior to performance start time

    9:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Saturday

Single tickets also may be purchased online through the Royal and McPherson Theatres Society web site.

Orders placed through the RMTS box office are subject to a handling fee of $3 per order for online orders, and $1.50 per ticket for telephone orders.

There are no additional fees when orders are placed through the POV box office (in person or over the phone).

What is the Ticket Exchange Policy?

Ticket exchanges are a service offered only to subscribers; therefore single tickets cannot be exchanged.

Subscription tickets may be exchanged from one performance to another within the same production up to one business day prior to your scheduled performance. Exchanges are subject to availability. Unfortunately we are unable to do exchanges from one production to another.

How do I exchange my subscription tickets?

  • By phone:
    Call the Pacific Opera Victoria Box Office directly at 250.385.0222 at least one business day prior to your original performance date, and we can arrange new seats for you. There is no charge for this service unless you decide to upgrade your seating location.  Exchanges are subject to availability.
  • In person at the Pacific Opera box office:
    Bring your tickets to our office at Suite 500 - 1815 Blanshard Street (office hours are 9 to 5, Monday to Friday).  There is no charge for this service unless you decide to upgrade your seating location.  Exchanges are subject to availability.
  • In person at the Royal Theatre or McPherson Playhouse box offices:
    Bring your tickets to either theatre's box office (office hours are 9:30 to 5:30, Monday to Saturday. Please note the Royal Box Office is closed for lunch from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm). There is a $2.00 charge per ticket when exchanged through either of the RMTS box offices.
  • By mail. Please mail your request detailing up to three choices of dates in order of preference, with your original tickets to:

    Please make sure to include your name and telephone number with your request. Your new tickets will be returned to you by mail. If there is not enough time to safely mail your new tickets back, they will be held for you to pick up at the Royal Theatre box office when you come for the performance.  

    What if I cannot attend a performance?

    All tickets are non-refundable. However Subscription tickets may be returned as a tax-deductible donation. Returned subscription tickets must be received in the POV office at least one business day prior to your original performance date. A charitable tax receipt in the amount of the donated ticket will be issued by mail shortly after the performance. Single tickets cannot be returned for a tax receipt.

    What if I lose my tickets?

    Tickets can be reprinted at the Royal Theatre box office when you arrive for the performance. Please arrive at the box office at least 30 minutes prior to performance start time and bring some ID. A replacement ticket will be issued at that time.
